Opening New Windows….

Field of Sunshine

I wasn’t going to do a blog post again until after the New Year.  It’s two days before Christmas.  I have family coming today.  We are moving in 3 weeks and I am up to my eyeballs in boxes and packing and sorting and organising.  Yesterday was my 13th Wedding Anniversary… we have a total of 6 birthdays of friends and family in December.  To say that this is a crazy time of year would be a tremendous understatement.  However… something very exciting happened yesterday, and I just couldn’t resist sharing the news.

Some months ago I submitted a couple of picture for consideration to Microsoft Windows for use in one of their Windows Personalisation Galleries.  Having not heard anything back for a long time, I just assumed my images were not good enough.  I mean they must get literally thousands and thousands of submission, and the quality is so high.  But worth a shot, eh.

But then I did hear back.

Not only did they want to include the images I submitted but they wanted to know if I would be interested in having my very own gallery.  “Beautiful Queensland” they wanted to call it, and they requested a dozen more images of mine to submit.  But that’s not all.  They were also very impressed with my wildlife images and wanted to know if I would be interested in doing either a Queensland wildlife, or a beautiful birds gallery as well.  Being such a lover of bird photography, how could I resist the opportunity to have my own bird gallery, so naturally I said yes.

And yesterday the galleries went live.  So anyone who has a Microsoft computer can now download my images as a Windows theme, which  is a combination of desktop background pictures, window colors, and sounds for use  in Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1, and in Windows 7 platforms.  They are completely free to download and enjoy.   It is such a thrill for me to be able to share my work in this way, and I do hope that many people will get enjoyment from what has been an absolute pleasure for me to create.
