You must be the change you want to see in the world. –Mahatma Gandhi
It’s a Sunday afternoon and hubby is in the other room watching a movie… Battle Los Angles. It’s too violent for me. I started to watch it, but once it gets to the point where I have to have my eyes closed the majority of the time, it’s time for me to find something else to do.
And that’s been happening more and more lately.
I know I wrote a post the other day about Hollywood’s obsession with violence, for anyone who likes TV and movies, it’s kinda hard to escape.
And I do like TV. And I do love a good movie. Only problem is… there is getting less and less available to watch unless you really enjoy violence, and gore, and death and destruction. It seems to have become an obsession in the entertainment industry.
So today I take a stand.
Today… I choose Peace.
I was thinking about a hero of mine… Mahatma Gandhi. And I wondered whether he would watch a movie such as Battle Los Angles. Or a TV show such as Revolution. And I could be wrong, but I don’t think he would. Nor do I think that Jesus Christ would have broken out the popcorn, sat back and enjoyed this form of entertainment… but again, I could be wrong.
Now I am not saying that there is anything wrong with it per say. If that is what floats your boat, fine.
But I also strongly believe that what you surround yourself with…. what you allow into your everyday reality, defines your reality.
If you believe in Peace. If you stand up for Peace… then it only makes sense to me that watching overtly violent forms of entertainment is counterintuitive to such beliefs. It’s a personal choice, and what is right for me, may not be right for everyone…. but it IS my choice… and I choose PEACE.
